The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has launched the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, a Conditional Cash Transfer Programme aimed at promoting education among children of BISP active Kafalat beneficiaries up to the higher secondary level. Through additional cash incentives, the program encourages parents to enroll their children in schools and colleges, thereby reducing dropout rates and ensuring retention.
Objectives of Benazir Taleemi Wazaif:
- Awareness Creation: The program aims to create sustainable awareness about the importance of primary, secondary, and higher secondary education among BISP beneficiary families.
- Increased Enrollment: By providing incentives, the program seeks to increase the enrollment of children in schools.
- Improved Attendance: Efforts are made to improve school attendance among enrolled children.
- Reduced Dropout Rates: The program aims to decrease school dropout rates.
Key Processes:
- Micro Supply Capacity Assessment (MSCA): BISP collects data on the capacity of public schools (enrollment capacity, infrastructure conditions, accessibility, and catchment area) before initiating registration and enrollment activities. Private schools’ capacity assessment is carried out during child enrollment.
- Social Mobilization: BISP field teams visit localities to raise awareness among beneficiaries about education. They also engage with non-compliant families to understand reasons for non-attendance and motivate them.
- Registration and Enrollment: After assessing supply capacity, massive registration begins. Families are invited to registration centers or tehsil offices. The child’s B-form number and the parent’s CNIC number are essential for enrollment.
To start the registration process, visit the official BISP website. Locate your nearest BISP office, collect the registration form, and provide the necessary information. Upon successful registration, you’ll receive a confirmation message indicating that your child has been conferred the scholarship.
In summary, the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif program strives to empower children through education, fostering a brighter future for Pakistan’s youth.
